Voice is the manifestation of thought.
Your voice transforms your thoughts into audible vibrations, moving an idea or emotion out of the mind and into the reality of the physical world. Using your voice gives you the ability to express your thoughts and emotions, and to change the minds of others. It gives you power and freedom, and the capacity to change reality.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. demonstrated the power of just one voice to change the world. He used his voice as the means of non-violent resistance to a system that oppressed millions of people for hundreds of years. He created an awareness about civil rights that changed the world. Dr. King said, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people, but the silence over that by the good people.” He broke that silence with his voice, and inspired others to do the same.
We tend to take our voices for granted, but they do mirror what is happening in our inner world. Pay attention to how you speak to yourself and others. How often do you speak negatively about yourself, or with a negative regard for people or situations in your life? Train yourself to be conscious of how you use your words. Do the words you speak reflect your core values, intentions, and beliefs?
The term persona means the way you present yourself to the world, but the literal meaning is “through sound”. Most of us present ourselves to the world by using our voices. Your voice can create change, not only in the physical world, but also in your mind. Your voice is an expression of your consciousness, but it can also change your consciousness.
Your subconscious mind hears what you tell it and believes you. Changing the words that you speak can change the thoughts you think. Changing your thoughts shifts your perspective, which could improve your entire life.
In her book, “Embraced by the Light”, author Betty Eadie said, “If we understood the awesome power of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative. In our thoughts and words, we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts.”
Bringing consciousness to your voice empowers you to fulfill your true nature and open doors to infinite possibilities.
